The town is dominated by a lighthouse and the ruins of a colonial fort, from which sunsets can be seen as well as dolphins jumping through the waves. Traditionally a peaceful fishing village, Morro de Sao Paulo is literally “on fire” during the following days after Carnaval, known among locals as ressaca (hangover time). During this period, the small village gets packed of tourists and Baianos alike looking for a few extra days of fun as well as relaxation.
